Heimerle + Meule: Germany’s oldest gold and silver refinery

Heimerle + Meule is an established European producer of investment bullion bars. Founded in 1845 in Pforzheim, Germany, the company combines a long history of precious metal processing with modern manufacturing. Alongside classic gold and silver bars, it offers flexible UnityBars sets and FineCard gift products.

A tradition rooted in Pforzheim, the Golden City

The history of Heimerle + Meule began in 1845, when Julius Dittler established a business in Pforzheim to recover precious metals from manufacturing residues. This activity gradually developed into Germany’s oldest gold and silver refinery.

Pforzheim, also known as the Golden City, has a strong connection with jewellery manufacturing and precious metal processing. Heimerle + Meule continues this tradition, supplying materials and solutions for jewellery, industry and dentistry alongside its investment products.

From refining to investment bars

Refining separates and purifies precious metals so they can be used again. Gold and silver recovered from processed materials can therefore return to manufacturing in the form of a new product.

Heimerle + Meule combines this activity with the production of investment bullion bars. Its range includes classic cast and minted products, small bars and gift formats. Customers can choose according to their budget, preferred weight and purpose.

Cast and minted bars: two manufacturing methods

Cast bars have a distinctive appearance, with softer edges and marks formed as the metal cools. Small surface variations are part of the manufacturing process and give individual bars their own character.

Minted bars feature a regular shape and a finely finished surface. They are often used for smaller weights and elegantly presented gift products.

The manufacturing method alone does not determine how much gold a bar contains. When choosing a product, the key factors are its weight, fineness and price per gram of fine metal.

What does inclusion on the LBMA list mean?

Heimerle + Meule appears on the LBMA Good Delivery List for gold. This list includes refiners approved to manufacture large standardised bars for the professional market.

It does not provide separate certification for every small investment bar. Nevertheless, the manufacturer’s inclusion is an important indicator of its standing in the international market and its manufacturing standards.

The authenticity and condition of the individual product also remain important when buying or selling.

UnityBars: small bars you can add to over time

UnityBars are an interesting part of Heimerle + Meule’s range. These sets contain separate small bars that can be individually removed and replaced later.

Unlike breakable bar sheets, the individual pieces do not need to be snapped apart. If you give away or sell one bar, you can subsequently add another to the set.

This concept may appeal to customers who want to hold part of their gold in smaller units. When choosing, it is worth comparing their price per gram with that of a larger bar.

FineCard: gold as a personal or corporate gift

FineCard combines a small fine gold bar with a presentation card. The manufacturer also offers customised designs, allowing the product to take on a personal or corporate identity.

This format can be suitable for an anniversary, a thank-you gift for a business partner or a gift for an employee. Alongside the precious metal content, the presentation and card design are part of its appeal.

Heimerle + Meule bars at Golden House

At Golden House, you will find selected Heimerle + Meule gold and silver bars in various weights. Specific formats and availability change over time.

Smaller weights can make it easier to build a reserve gradually and sell gold in smaller portions. Larger bars generally offer a lower manufacturing premium per gram.

We will be happy to help you choose the right weight and format in our showroom or through our customer support team.
