Investment gold is more than just a number on a chart or an item in an investment portfolio. It is a real, physical asset that can be seen, held and preserved across generations.

This was precisely the idea we wanted to introduce to the guests of the investment evening “Zlato: Věčná hodnota” – “Gold: Enduring Value”, which took place in the elegant surroundings of the OLD ARMENIA restaurant in Prague.

Organised by Golden House in cooperation with the Investors Association and HOUSE Media Group, the event brought together expert information, direct contact with investment metals, open discussion and an enjoyable social atmosphere.

Gold you can actually hold in your hand

Investment gold is often discussed in terms of prices, charts, percentages and long-term market performance. Physical gold, however, has another dimension that no chart can fully convey.

It is real.

Guests were therefore able to examine investment bars and coins in various weights, compare different designs and learn more about products from leading global refineries and mints.

For many participants, the opportunity to hold investment gold in their own hands was one of the most memorable moments of the evening. A photograph of a gold bar on a screen creates a very different impression from a real product that stores significant value within a remarkably small space.

The presentation included not only traditional investment bars, but also bullion coins and products that combine their precious-metal value with exceptional craftsmanship, an interesting story or additional collectable appeal.

Why gold deserves a place in an investment portfolio

The main topic of the evening was not an attempt to predict short-term movements in the gold price. Instead, we focused primarily on gold’s long-term role in protecting wealth and diversifying an investment portfolio.

For centuries, gold has served as a store of value. It is not intended to replace every other type of investment, nor is it an instrument for short-term speculation. Its importance lies primarily in the fact that it behaves differently from many conventional financial assets and can complement equities, property, cash and other parts of an investor’s wealth.

During the presentation, we focused particularly on the following questions:

• Why do investors include physical gold in their wealth?
• What is the difference between investing in physical metal and investing in financial products linked to its price?
• How should investors select suitable sizes of bars and coins?
• Why are a product’s origin, manufacturer and marketability important?
• How can gold be purchased, stored and subsequently sold safely?
• What may distinguish an investment product from a collectable product?
• How should investors think about the proportion of precious metals within their overall portfolio?

Our aim was not to provide one universal answer. Every investor has a different financial situation, investment horizon and reason for being interested in gold. This is precisely why we regard personal consultation and open discussion as important parts of making an informed investment decision.

Discussing gold without unnecessary myths

Investment gold is often surrounded by oversimplified assumptions. It is sometimes presented as an asset that can automatically solve every form of economic uncertainty. At other times, it is rejected because it does not generate interest or dividends.

The reality is far more practical.

Gold has a specific role within a person’s wealth. Its primary purpose is not to produce regular income, but to preserve part of an asset’s value over the long term, reduce dependence on a single category of investment and create a physical reserve outside the conventional financial system.

It is therefore important not to view gold in isolation, but as one component of a carefully constructed portfolio.

Personal meetings allow us to discuss these topics objectively, without exaggerated promises and without placing unnecessary pressure on anyone to make an immediate decision.

The questions investors really ask

A significant part of the evening was dedicated to questions from the guests. The discussion did not focus solely on the current market situation, but also on highly practical topics associated with purchasing and owning physical precious metals.

Guests were interested, for example, in choosing suitable bar sizes, understanding the differences between bullion coins and bars, secure storage options and the way in which a repurchase price is determined.

We also discussed the importance of reputable refineries, product certification, protective packaging, the liquidity of individual products and why selecting investment gold solely on the basis of the lowest selling price may not always be worthwhile.

For an investor, it is important to consider not only the price paid for a product, but also:

• whether its origin can be clearly documented,
• whether it comes from a trusted manufacturer,
• whether it can be sold easily in the future,
• the difference between the purchase and repurchase price,
• and how securely the metal will be stored throughout the period of ownership.

A personal approach is irreplaceable in investing

The internet now offers an almost unlimited amount of information. At the same time, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between information that is accurate, information that has been oversimplified and information that is primarily intended as a sales argument.

Alongside our online offering and educational content, we therefore want to create opportunities for people to meet in person.

The investment evening allowed guests to ask specific questions, compare different products and discuss investing in a calm environment without time pressure. It was not merely a formal presentation, but above all an opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions.

The evening was hosted by representatives of MoneyCoin, the company behind the Golden House brand, together with Petr Jech, President of the Investors Association. The expert programme was complemented by an open discussion about precious metals, market developments, wealth protection and diversification opportunities.

Investment, networking and an exceptional atmosphere

Investment decisions are not separate from everyday life, business or the wider economic environment. We therefore wanted to create an evening that would be more than just an expert lecture and would also provide an opportunity for people with shared interests to meet informally.

The guests included entrepreneurs, experienced investors and people who were only beginning to consider purchasing physical gold. The expert programme therefore naturally continued into conversations about investing, business, economics and long-term planning.

The elegant surroundings of the OLD ARMENIA restaurant, Armenian cuisine and carefully selected wines also contributed to the atmosphere of the evening. Combining an expert programme, personal interaction and a gastronomic experience created an environment in which investing could be discussed objectively, but also in a relaxed and informal manner.

The investment evening also attracted media attention

We are pleased that the investment evening attracted the attention not only of its participants, but also of the media.

The first evening, but not the last

The “Zlato: Věčná hodnota” – “Gold: Enduring Value” event demonstrated that people are interested not only in purchasing precious metals, but also in gaining a deeper understanding of how they work.

They want to know what they are buying, why they are buying it, what options are available to them and how their decision may contribute to the long-term protection of their wealth.

This is precisely why we plan to continue organising similar events.

Future investment evenings will focus not only on gold and silver, but also on specific questions that investors face when building, protecting and transferring wealth.
