The coin is struck from 1 ounce of 99.99% pure gold and celebrates the Year of the Snake. The reverse of the coin depicts a buffalo among bamboo stalks. The design includes the Chinese character "OX 2021" and the Perth Mint mintmark "P".
The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III. Dan Thorn, the weight, fineness and nominal value of the coin.
The reverse of the coin depicts a commemorative portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark with the years of her reign "ELIZABETH II", the denomination information "100 DOLLARS", the weight and fineness "1oz 9999 Ag" and the country of origin "AUSTRALIA".
The coins are minted in 4 sizes: 10 oz, 2 oz, 1 Oz, 1/2 Oz, 1/4 Oz and 1/10 Oz in 99.99% (24-carat) purest gold. The mintage of the 10 oz, 2 oz, 1/2 Oz, 1/4 Oz, 1/10 Oz coins is unlimited, only the 1 Oz coins are minted in a limited edition of 30,000 pieces.
