To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Citroën DS, the Monnaie de Paris is dedicating a coin collection to the car, highlighting its bold, avant-garde design and technical excellence. A true automotive pioneer, the DS is honored here in a series designed for history buffs, innovation and French elegance.

I’m truly excited to present this coin dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the DS, a car that I am passionate about and that holds a special place in my heart, especially since I own one myself. The DS is a true symbol of French design and craftsmanship, with its unique lines and revolutionary comfort. When designing it, I wanted to capture that elegance and innovation that have influenced generations and turned it into a legend.

The obverse of the €20 coin depicts the 1955 DS 19 model in all its glory, thanks to a high relief that accurately reproduces its characteristic lines from a bird's eye view. The reverse side depicts the vehicle's auxiliary frame, reminiscent of a miniature model, highlighting the technical perfection of this iconic model. The 20-euro gold coin highlights the turn signals of the DS 23 model with selective gold and black rhodium plating, while the reverse side reveals the colorful detail of the rear turn signal.
