The Noah’s Ark coin is struck from silver with a fineness of 999/1,000 and has a face value of 200 dram, the official currency of Armenia, and is recognised there as legal tender; however, its investment value is correspondingly higher, as this is determined on the basis of the current silver price. The Noah’s Ark coins are currently available exclusively in silver.

Obverse of the 1/2 oz Armenian Noah’s Ark Silver Coin

The obverse features the coat of arms of Armenia as the national emblem. At the bottom left, next to the Armenian coat of arms, you can see the mint mark of Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung GmbH, which is one of the key identifying features. The inscription ‘REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA’ appears along the lower edge of the coin, whilst the same text is engraved in Armenian along the upper edge. The denomination of 1/2 oz and the fineness of Ag 999 (Argentum) are shown in the bottom right-hand corner next to the coat of arms. Directly below the coat of arms is the face value of 200 dram in Armenian and English, with the respective year of minting shown below that.

Reverse of the Armenia Noah’s Ark 1/2 oz  silver coins

On the reverse of all denominations, a symbolic scene from the biblical story of Noah’s Ark is depicted, in which Noah sent out a dove after the Flood, which returned bearing an olive branch. The sun-drenched mountains of Armenia, including Mount Ararat, can be seen in the background. In the centre, you can see Noah’s Ark, which, according to tradition, is said to have housed a pair of every species of animal. In the foreground is the dove from the story, which has since come to symbolise life, hope and peace. At the bottom right, along the edge of the coin, you can see the inscription ‘NOAH’S ARK’. The words ‘Noah’s Ark’ are also engraved in Armenian along the upper edge of the coin.
