First issued in 1990, the Australian Kookaburra is a trusted series of silver bullion coins depicting the iconic bird, whose name is derived from the Wiradjuri word "gugubarra." The First Nations people, who have lived here for tens of thousands of years, tell numerous stories about the kookaburra, and it has subsequently been idolized in contemporary Australian art and literature.
The 34th anniversary Kookaburra design depicts two birds perched on branches surrounding a waratah, the original floral treasure. The design includes the inscription "KOOKABURRA", the traditional Perth Mint mintmark "P", the date 2023 and the weight and fineness of the coin.
