PMV Investor is an improved version of the PMV Original model from the American company Sigma Metalytics, designed specifically for thorough verification of larger bars. Compared to the basic model, it allows for deeper metal measurement down to the core, thanks to an external probe that can be attached to the underside of the bar. An ideal choice for bullion dealers, traders and investors working with 50 g, 100 g, 250 g and 1 oz gold bars and coins in larger volumes. This tester is non-contact, fast and easy to operate, without the need for any damage to the material. The technology uses the electromagnetic response of the material, thereby detecting counterfeit bars or coins even through protective packaging or capsules.
Tested metals: Gold, silver, platinum, palladium
Supported finenesses: 999.9 / 999 / 917 / 900 / 750 and more
Testing method: Electromagnetic impedance (non-invasive)
Measurement depth: up to 10 mm (with ether probe from the bottom of the ingot)
Sample types: Ingots, coins, medals, capsules, investment products
Display: Backlit LCD with clear result indication
Power supply: Internal rechargeable battery
Dimensions: 305 × 178 × 76 mm
Weight: 1.1 kg
Manufacturer: Sigma Metalytics, USA
Advantages of PMV Original over the competition
Non-invasive testing – no damage to the coin or bar
Instant result – measurement takes only a few seconds
High accuracy – technology used by exchanges and metal buyers
Easy to use – anyone can do it without special training
Tests through capsules – no need to handle the sample
Affordable solution – ideal for smaller redemption houses, retailers and private investors
While competing detectors often only work on the surface or based on weight and size, PMV PRO analyzes metal structures across the depth of the ingot and eliminates counterfeits even in exactly imitated pieces.
How can I use PMV?
Simply turn on the device, select the alloy you want to test from the built-in database, then place the sample on the sensor. If the sample is consistent with the selected alloy, the display will show a result within the expected range.
How does PMV resistance testing work?
The patented technology tests the characteristic resistance of a sample. Essentially, a sensor in the device generates a very small electromagnetic field and measures how your sample bends that field. We know how a real sample would bend the field, and the device compares your sample's test results to a known good result. If they are consistent, it is considered passable.
How does PMV density testing work?
The PMV Investor and PRO can test the density of samples using their built-in sensors (or an external bridge when using the PRO). There is a sensor above and below the sample that can measure the thickness, the user enters the weight and the device knows the density of the selected alloy. So there is only one variable left: the diameter of the coin (or the length/width of the column). The device will then display how large the sample should be, and if your sample matches the size displayed, then the density of the sample is consistent with the selected alloy.
Can PMV test through packaging?
Yes! All of our devices can test through plastic cases, holders, plastic pockets. If there is no metal in the case, it should be possible to test through plastic. Some cases are more difficult to test than others, but these are rare.
