Silver coin 200 CZK Gregor Mendel 200th anniversary of birth 2022 Proof

On July 20, 2022, the Czech National Bank will issue a commemorative silver two-hundred-crown coin to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Gregor Johann Mendel. The two-hundred-crown coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, regular and proof, which differ in surface finish and edge design. In the case of top-quality coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matted, the edge is smooth with the inscription "ČESKÁ NÁRODNÍ BANKA * Ag 0.925 * 13 g *". Regular-quality coins have a serrated edge. The diameter of the coin is 31 mm, the weight is 13 g and the thickness is 2.3 mm. As with every coin minting, deviations of 0.1 mm in diameter and 0.15 mm in thickness are allowed for these coins. The weight is allowed to vary up to 0.26 g, and the silver content up to 1%. Coin description The obverse of the two hundred crowns depicts combinations of gene crossings from the work of Gregor Johann Mendel, which are covered in the left part of the coin by a composition of an incomplete hexagon. Inside this composition is a genetic table and four pea pods. At the left edge of the coin, the text "ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA" is in the inscription. The denomination with the abbreviation of the monetary unit "200 CZK" is located above the genetic table. The mark of the Czech Mint consisting of the letters "Č" and "M" is located to the right of the genetic table. The reverse of the two hundred crowns depicts combinations of gene crossings from the work of Gregor Johann Mendel, which are covered in the right part of the coin by a composition of an incomplete hexagon. Inside this composition is a portrait of Gregor Johann Mendel in profile. The text "GREGOR JOHANN MENDEL" is located on the right edge of the coin in the copy. The text "1822" is located on the upper edge of the coin and the text "2022" is located on the lower edge of the coin. The initials of the coin's designer, academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, which are formed by a composition of the letters "F" and "Z", are located under the chin on the portrait of Gregor Johann Mendel.
