In 2025, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the founding of DC COMICS, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to the most iconic characters of the legendary comic book world. Among them are the eternal adversaries – Batman and the Joker.
Inspired by the original DC COMICS comics, this exceptional collection of gold and silver bullion coins captures superheroes and villains through detailed engraving and bold colors. Each coin represents not only the visual but also the narrative essence of the character – or, in this case, the clash of two irreconcilable forces.

Batman & Joker – order against chaos, justice against madness.
Batman and the Joker are the embodiment of two opposing worlds. Batman – the guardian of Gotham City – symbolizes order, discipline and the desire for justice. The Joker – the clown prince of crime – on the contrary brings anarchy, unpredictability and sheer madness.
Their conflict is eternal: while the Joker tries to throw the city into chaos, Batman tries to get it back on its feet again and again. Each encounter is a battle of values - and this coin captures the dramatic tension between two of the most iconic characters in the DC universe.

The reverse of the coin bears the denomination surrounded by oak and laurel branches – traditional symbols of strength and honour. The entire motif is completed by the inscription “République Française” and line elements representing the map of France.
