Gold coin 5000 CZK Pernštejn Castle 2017 Proof

On 24 October 2017, the Czech National Bank issued the fourth gold coin from the Castles series. Its theme is Pernštejn Castle. The coin is minted from 999.9 fine gold and is issued in two versions, regular and proof, which differ in the surface finish and edge design. In top-quality coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matted, the edge is smooth. Regular-quality coins have a serrated edge. The diameter of the coin is 28 mm, the weight is 15.55 g and the thickness is 1.85 mm. When minting coins, deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and in thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. The weight is allowed to vary by up to 0.062 g and the gold content by up to 0.01%. The obverse of the coin shows a detail of a Gothic door with a repeating emblem of the Pernštejn family. The door is covered in the upper part with a composition of heraldic animals from the large state emblem in shields. The name of the state “CZECH REPUBLIC” is located in the upper left part of the coin field. The denomination of the coin “5,000” with the abbreviation of the monetary unit “Kč” and the name of the cycle “HRADY” are located in the lower left part of the coin field. The mark of the Czech Mint, which is formed by a composition of the letters “Č” and “M”, is located at the lower edge of the coin. The reverse of the coin depicts a part of Pernštejn Castle. The text “HRAD PERNŠTEJN” is located in the upper left part of the coin field. The lower part of the coin field depicts a bison with a charcoal burner. The initials of the coin’s designer, Luboš Charvát, which are formed by the connected letters “L” and “Ch”, are located below the bison. The year of minting “2017” is located in the left part of the coin field. Each coin is accompanied by a red catalogue card, which contains a description of the coin and its plastic representation.
