Gold coin 5000 CZK Švihov Castle 2019 Standard

On October 1, 2019, the Czech National Bank is issuing the eighth gold coin from the Castles series. Its theme is Švihov Castle. The coin is minted from 999.9 fine gold and is issued in two versions, regular and top (proof), which differ in surface finish and edge design. In top-quality coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matted, the edge is smooth. Regular-quality coins have a serrated edge. The diameter of the coin is 28 mm, the weight is 15.55 g and the thickness is 1.9 mm. When minting coins, deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and in thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. The weight is allowed to deviate upwards by 0.062 g and the gold content by 0.01%. On the obverse of the coin, in the upper part of the coin field, there is a composition of heraldic animals from the large state emblem in shields. Below the composition of heraldic animals, the interior of the Švihov Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is depicted, and its altar is depicted in the foreground. The text “ČESKÁ” is located on the left edge of the coin, and the name of the “HRADY” series is located on the right edge. Below the altar, the denomination of the coin with the abbreviation of the monetary unit “5,000 CZK” and the text “REPUBLIKA” are indicated. The mark of the Czech Mint, which is formed by the composition of the letters “Č” and “M”, is located to the right of the altar. The reverse of the coin depicts a view through the late Gothic portal to the castle courtyard. The text “HRAD” is located on the left edge of the coin, the text “ŠVIHOV” is located on the bottom edge, and the year of minting “2019” is located on the right edge. The initials of the coin’s designer, Luboš Charvát, which are formed by the connected letters “L” and “Ch”, are located to the left of the text “ŠVIHOV”.
